Olivia Walton

Certified Pilates instructor

As a dancer of 20 years, I have always found interest in our bodies and how they support us. As I grew in age and ability, my dance career took me to new places that I never expected to go; this did not come without a toll on my physical well-being. In college, I was dancing for hours at a time almost every day of the week, and I began to feel my joint and muscle weakness more than I ever had. I have tried physical therapy, and I have warmed up better, but nothing filled in all the blanks until I found the Pilates method. In the Spring of 2020, I began my comprehensive Pilates instructor training. I can honestly say this decision changed my life. I am a new dancer and, more importantly, a new human being ––since starting a regular Pilates practice. I feel better when I stand in line at the grocery store, and I feel supported by muscles I didn’t even know existed when I sit at the dinner table. I want everyone in the world to experience the change in their minds and bodies that Pilates gave me, so if you feel like you are looking for anything missing in your life, whether it’s balance training, strengthening or stretching, or just a moment to breathe deeply, do Pilates!

Beth Andrew

Certified Pilates Instructor

Beth Andrew started as a student at In Balance when she won five private sessions at a silent auction in 2014. As an avid triathlete, she found that Pilates complemented her swim+bike+run training by improving her posture, flexibility, and mobility. Plus, the method built her confidence by showing her she could move in ways she never thought she could. It did not take long for this 13-time Ironman and triathlon coach to morph into a Pilates nerd. In 2015, she completed her mat certification through the In Balance Certification and became a regular student at the studio. In 2020, she finished her comprehensive training and became an instructor at In Balance. Her mission is the same with each Pilates client and triathlon athlete: to cultivate the belief in the Ironman motto that Anything is Possible.

Carrie Broyhill Pilates instructor in Wilmington NC

Carrie Broyhill

Certified Pilates instructor

Carrie Broyhill is a writer/editor turned Pilates instructor who now playfully dubs herself an “editor of the spine.” In 2012 she had the good fortune of being introduced to the Method by her mentor Carrie Pages, and shortly thereafter earned her mat and comprehensive certifications through In Balance Pilates. Since then, she has found it her mission to discover learning opportunities wherever possible and extend her passion for this intelligent form of exercise to her clients. “What I love most about practicing and teaching Pilates is that you never reach an end. I continue to have “Aha!” moments during personal practice and an excitement for turning those moments into words to relay a deeper understanding of movement to my clients. I love conceiving ways to be creative and intuitive in my instruction while preserving classical form.” When she’s not at her dream job, this North Carolina native can be found satisfying her inescapable desire to boat or paddle out to an island.
